Start the New Year with a Positive Attitude!

By AG Staff (January 4, 2010)

Starting over can be a fun  experience when we learn from past mistakes and are eager to enter a second chance with a new and improved outlook on life. On the other hand, when we carry our past baggage over into the future, not only are we holding ourselves back, but we are also granting victory to the failures of our past. The year 2010 should not be like any other year before it. It should be a year of moving on, continuing the path of success, making amends, forgiving mistakes, getting over past hurts and betrayals, looking forward to bigger successes and all things the past year did not afford us. A few things to inspire you moving forward into the New Year:

Know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made: Know that when God created the earth and all that is in it, He took extra time to create you in all your uniqueness. For this reason, you cannot compare yourself, your talents, your abilities and your wants to that of the next person. Once you understand this, you will be well on your way to getting rid of jealousy and envy.

Get rid of jealousy and envy: The year 2009 saw the downfall of many successful men and women. One such couple in Washington, DC involved in a real estate scam left hundreds of investors and property owners robed of their life savings. They indulged in riches and exuded a showy attitude to the curiosity and envy of their neighbors. Both are now sitting in a federal prison for embezzlement and fraud. Quite a number of these stories floated around in the year 2009. Imagine you were one of the people who envied these people for their riches and lifestyle. Do you envy their prison sentences as well? You never know how hard someone worked (or didn’t work) to get what they have. Instead of being envious, strive to carve out the path of your own destiny.

Be content with what you have and count your many little blessings. You’ll be surprised to find out how blessed you really are.

Strive to be a better You! Recognize your faults and weaknesses, and work on correcting your mistakes. The biggest fool is the one who keeps repeating the same mistakes over and over.

Know your significance in life and start working on a plan to make it happen. Whether its failed romantic relationships, financial failures, broken friendships, or one of life’s many setbacks, know that you can always make things right the second time around.

If ever you needed an excuse to start living the New You, this is the time because you won’t come out looking fake and weird. Everybody expects something new in the New Year – new changes, weight loss, new attitude, new hair, what have you. Make this your year!
